Now we are seeking a post-doctoral researcher with interest in sinter-based multi-material additive manufacturing, in particular high-resolution metal/ceramic and ceramic/ceramic composites, with special focus on development of material for multi-material printing, sintering process development, materials characterization and biological evaluation. Biological evaluation of the novel materials will be done at GU using in vitro and in vivo models to capture the inflammatory and regenerative response. With in vitro, various mono- and coculture models are considered using both inflammatory and regenerative cells, with endpoints cell viability, gene expression and protein secretion as well as cell proliferation and morphology. With in vivo, small animal models for both soft and hard tissue interactions will be used, considering both early and late timepoints.
Major responsibilities
Your major responsibility as a postdoc is to perform your own research as part of the research group. The position involves coordinating specific research projects in the frame of PMAM group at Chalmers, collaborating within academia, industry and with society at large. The position may also include undergraduate and master level as well as supervising academic and industrial users of the sinter-based infrastructure.
There is a strong interest in expanding possibilities of AM technologies to produce high-resolution and multifunctional multi-material components for biomedical applications, not achievable by existing AM technologies. As technology is very young, there is the necessity for the development of the tailored and well-controlled debinding and sintering process to assure necessary properties and tolerances. You will be working with the development of materials formulation, debinding and sintering process development, material characterization and biological evaluation of the developed multi-material composition with tailored chemistry and porosity. The position offers great opportunities for future research duties within academia as well as industry or the public sector.
Contract terms
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two years.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must have a PhD in materials science, material mechanics and/or production engineering, and the degree should generally not be older than three years. Priority will be given to candidates with a relevant background in sinter-based additive manufacturing of metals or ceramics.
Skills in simulation of sintering process, sintering process development and sinter-based AM, materials characterization, inorganic chemistry, biological evaluation, microscopy, etc.
Application procedure
Application can be made on the Chalmers website.
Please note: Incomplete applications and applications sent by email will not be considered.
Application deadline: January 30, 2025
