Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our research team at the Chair of materials, science and technology and the Chair of solid mechanics and rheology of materials, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana. The selected candidate will be involved in national and EU-funded projects where his/her main research efforts will focus mostly on the field of improving super-elastic shape memory alloys (SMAs) by advanced strengthening methods, buckling stability and elasto-caloric technology. The position will start in February-March 2025 and will be funded for three years, with possible extension.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, physics, material science or related fields. She/he should be:
creative, reliable, open minded, and self-motivated to bring forward new research ideas and solutions,
able to fruitfully interact with other researchers, both independently and in an interdisciplinarable to formally report research findings, communicate new research ideas and write scientific papers andexcellent communication in English language.
Hence, we value applicants who are creative, self-motivated, and enthusiastic about cutting-edge technologies, and keen to work within an international team in development of more efficient and durable parts with implementation of innovative technologies in view of cleaner production with lower emissions, higher efficiency and sustainability and new cooling/heat-pumping technology. The candidate is expected to have an interest in surface modification techniques, shape memory alloys, buckling stability and their experimental characterization (XRD, XPS, AES, SEM/EDS, EBSD, FIB, TEM, electrochemical analyses, fatigue, etc.).
