Description
This project, set within a drug discovery framework, aims to utilize AlphaFold—an advanced AI-based platform for protein structure prediction—alongside other computational tools to characterize the structures of proteins linked to certain forms of spastic paraparesis (e.g. IAHSP, SPG50). The primary goal is to deepen the understanding of the structure-function relationship of these proteins and aid in identifying and optimizing compounds that can modulate their activity. The specific objectives are: a) to predict and validate the 3D structures of target proteins (including multimeric forms) and their mutants, b) to employ molecular dynamics to identify potential binding sites within these proteins, and c) to identify proteins and small molecules capable of interacting with the target proteins.
