Description
This project aims to develop advanced analytical methodologies based on liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography (GC) coupled with mass spectrometry (MS) for the qualitative and quantitative study of metabolites. Specifically, the use of direct and reversed phase chromatographic separations for polar and lipid metabolites and by GC for volatile compounds is planned. The methods will be applied to the characterization of metabolites produced by bacteria, fungi as well as human cells under pathological conditions, such as infection, disease, and exposure to toxic pollutants and substances. The goal is to optimize integrated targeted and untargeted metabolomics approaches, ensuring high sensitivity, reproducibility and broad metabolic coverage. The project aims to identify biomarkers useful for understanding biochemical mechanisms associated with pathological conditions and support clinical and biotechnology research.
